Adjuster Insurance

Why would a fire remediation service send a bill directly to my insurance adjuster?
Following a house fire. I hired a nationally known company to clean and attempt to remove the smell. When I asked for an update on the costs to date. They informed that they would only send the bill directly to my insurance adjuster and not through me. Also, they insisted they be present at the first meeting, at my home, with the adjuster.
Thanks,
dolphinite
Because the insurance company is the one that is going to pay them.
However, they should make the bill available to you. And as the homeowner, it’s a good idea to review the bill. This way you can confirm they did the work they are charging for.
Call your adjuster and let them know you want to review the bill prior to payment. The adjuster should give you a copy of it. Also ask your adjuster if you will be on the check. The should make the check payable to you and the restoration service – so that you have to endorse the check too.
Being present at the meeting with the adjuster is a good idea. I usually like the restoration company to be there. That way we can get an idea of what needs to be done – so we are all on the same page.

When to hire a public adjuster
March 24, 2009
After hurricane Ike cut a path of destruction through your neighborhood many folks discovered that insurance pay outs are not always as fast and not always as fair as one would wish. Unfortunately, some are still waiting, still trusting, their insurer to tender a fair settlement of their claim or readjust previous mistakes themselves. How long will you wait?
Since it is a felony for a contractor to negotiate an insurance settlement directly or indirectly for a policy holder, hiring United States Public Adjusters could be the answer to your insurance claim problem, unless of course you are ready, able, and willing to pay attorneys cost.
You should consider hiring a public adjuster when:
A) You did not get money you believe you deserve.
B) Your insurance adjuster and/or company is unduly delaying payment of your claim.
C) Your have been over promised and under delivered by your insurer.
D) Your neighbor got paid for a new roof and you did not despite having both suffered roof
damage.
E) You are tired dealing with your insurance problem.
F) You want to get every penny for damages from IKE.

Because your insurance company is a business they may want to clean and paint where you would be entitled to a replacment for your property damage. They may offer to patch your roof, where you would get a replacement and possibly an upgrade.
